what a waste
i had a small chat with my friend that day
during the last year’s second semester
i remembered her telling me she wants to major in Social Work
i secretly admire those who want to major in Social Work
i dunno..i somehow feel that it is not going to be an easy field
it requires a lot of patience, caring, helpful, determined and the skill in handling social issues
and not to forget, the passion in Social Work
i have to admit, i like being helpful
however, not to the extend to being a social worker as my future career
well…unfortunately..i met her again a few days ago
i asked her about how the major is like now
she told me she has changed her major to Communications and New Media (CNM)
the reason was simple
‘it is very difficult to get good grades in Social work. if you were to get good grades, major in CNM’
tat sounds very tempting to me
coz i don seem to be getting good grades either
maybe i should consider as well
*waves away thought*
no no no
thats not wat i wanted to say
wat i wanted to say is that What a Waste!
because of the reality of the society
we have lost a potential social worker in the future to come
i actually feel sad about it
there is nothing we can do though
getting good grades is the main objective for us, the students in NUS
no good grades, no talk
‘ nah…grades are not about everything…’
‘ come on..they don just look at ur degree certificate to judge you’
wake up people!!
coz that does not work in Singapore
